Dr. Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong. He came to the U.S. in 1970, and is a US Citizen. After receiving his Ph. D. from University of Minnesota, he joined the faculty at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics with a research interest in Bone Metabolism. He has had 16 full length articles in peer-review journals and numerous abstracts published. He then continued with his medical education, and received his M.D. degree from CWRU in 1986. He stayed on to complete his 5-year Orthopedic residency at CWRU. He joined Drs. Berry and Felter in 1991 and has been in Sandusky since.
Although primarily a General Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Wong has a busy practice in joint replacements including hip/knee/thumb joint. Drs. Wong, Berry, and Felter were the first in Ohio to perform minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, well in advance of much larger centers. Dr. Wong was much involved in the initial designs of instrumentations used in the minimally invasive hip and knee replacements. He was an instructor for many Orthopedic Surgeons on such procedures. Dr. Wong is also a certified Orthopedic Surgeon for the Oxford Partial Knee System.
Dr. Wong is very involved with the local hospitals. He was the Co-Chief of Medical Staff of Firelands Regional Medical Center (FRMC) from 2005-2006. He is the Physician Champion for the Geriatric Fracture Program at FRMC and for the Joint Center Program at Magruder Hospital. He also in an active participant at Community Educational Seminars sponsored by local hospitals, giving talks on various Orthopedic topics.
Dr. Wong resides in Huron with his wife, daughter and son. He enjoys Fly-Fishing, music and gardening.
