Our facility is equipped to perform MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) on any portion of the human body. This procedure generally takes about 40 minutes to complete.
An MRI machine is a highly advanced medical device that can obtain quality images of the internal structures of the human body. The technology involves directing magnetic forces on the tissues of the body. The speed in which the cells of each tissue (bone, muscle, cartilage) respond to the magnetic force can be translated into an image. Abnormalities in these tissues can then be detected including ligament and cartilage tears.
Since the technology involves a strong magnet, individuals with metal objects in their soft tissues (brain clips and cardiac pacemakers) cannot undergo this test.
Individuals with metallic objects in bone (screws, plates, ect) can undergo this test.
